You know you have wanted to try them but perhaps the dreaded heel or fear has kept you
away. Well here is your chance to get that first sock going. I call socks my goto project when I
am stressed out, bored, or just need some zen time. You will soon feel the same way and have
a perfectly fitting pair of socks for yourself or a love one.
Session 1: A survey of socks. In this class we will take foot measurements, look at some
historical and modern sock designs, talk about foot shapes and why some people love one
style of heel, toe while others prefer another. We will cast on two socks (one each on two
different sets of needles). In class and homework includes knitting desired length to heal turn.
Session 2: The heel flap and turn. In this class we will knit a heel flap, turn the heel and create
gussets decreases (twice!). Homework will be to knit to the desired foot length.
Session 3: Toes and Kitchener Stitch. In this class we will lean how to taper for your individual
to lengths and then finish off your socks with a Kitchener stitch (twice).
We Provide: A basic pattern with room to take measurements. A sock ruler.
You bring (or buy at a 20% discount in store): one skein of fingering weight yarn, two sets of
size 2 circular needles (32” long).
